Marah
Marah Uthes Wenos, fifth Enchantress of the Eastern Kingdom of the Tinwael Galéth, and mother to Rheya. She was claimed too young for her calling, but once she knew her child would succeed her, she viewed her life as expendable, even though those around her warded her as a priceless treasure.
When she returned from escaping the menace of the Northern Sea Caves, Baelus suggested they head immediately to Vesuva, to escape the Eastern Kingdom, as she was clearly being hunted. That night, a caravan was assembled and Maecas, being the Master of the failed Laima whose error cost her life, was commanded by Galen to escort himself and Marah with Rheya to Vesuva. On the road, they were attacked by a swirling darkness, clearly some magics to cover a band of attackers from elven eyes. Galen had the presence of mind to toss Rheya out the window of the carriage to Maecas and command him to run for the Capital, which he naturally disobeyed, hiding Rheya in a nearby bush as his band engaged the attackers. Two human assassins, burst into the carriage before Maecas could get there, and they vanished into thin air he arrived, only to see the poisoned blades protruding from the King and Queen.
The darkness swirled away, leaving Maecas alive even though he did kill some foes. He took Rheya and the bodies of the King and Queen and, taking the yoke from the carriage, lashed together a sledge to drag back to the Capital.
